Terms of Service

ChessDecoded is a chess improvement tool, operated as an independent business based in India. It lets you play, import and annotate games, receive AI-generated analysis and coaching, and train against puzzles derived from your own mistakes.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. You must give an accurate email address, because it is how we reach you about payments and account issues. One person, one account — do not share credentials.

You may use parts of the service as a guest without an account. Guest progress is stored on your device and may be lost if you clear your browser data.

The free tier includes 3 AI position analyses, unlimited game imports, annotations, puzzle training and multiplayer. Plus removes the analysis limit and adds the paid features described on the upgrade page.

Plus costs ₹299 in India or approximately $8 internationally, and grants 30 days of access per payment. It does not auto-renew. Refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

We may change prices or what is included in each tier. Changes apply to future payments only — never to a period you have already paid for.

Analysis, coaching commentary, and annotation scores are generated automatically and will sometimes be wrong. They are study aids, not verified chess truth. Do not treat them as a guarantee of rating improvement or of the objective correctness of any move.

You agree not to:

• Use the service to cheat in games played anywhere else, including using our analysis during a live game on another platform.
• Scrape, resell, or redistribute content from the service in bulk.
• Attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' data.
• Upload unlawful, abusive, or infringing content, including in annotation text.
• Use automated clients to play multiplayer games on your behalf.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. Where a breach was not deliberate we will normally warn you first.

Your games, annotations and notes remain yours. You grant us the licence needed to store, process and display them in order to run the service — including sending them to our AI provider to generate the analysis you asked for.

Some features publish content to other users, such as shared annotations in Explore. Only submit content to those features if you are willing for it to be seen publicly.

Importing from Lichess or Chess.com uses their public APIs and is subject to their terms. We are not affiliated with either, and we cannot guarantee those integrations will keep working if they change or withdraw access.

We aim to keep the service running, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. Features may change or be withdrawn. We will give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 30 days before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

You may stop using the service or ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing chessdecoded@gmail.com. We may terminate accounts that breach these terms, or discontinue the service entirely — in which case we will refund any unused paid period.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
